Shanghai Legoland theme park will start construction in September at the earliest, officially opening in 2024

According to media sources, Shanghai’s Jinshan District Government stated at the Jinshan Cultural Tourism Work Press Conference on April 21 that the Legoland project in Fengjing Town is intensively and orderly preparing for the project.


  If the progress goes well, the Legoland project will start construction in September this year at the earliest, and the park will officially open for operation in the first half of 2024. It is estimated that the annual number of tourists after the park will reach 3 million to 4 million.


   According to the new media of View Real Estate, relevant persons from Jinshan District Cultural and Tourism Bureau introduced that the Shanghai Legoland Resort project has been formally signed on November 6 last year and all work has been progressing smoothly. On the eve of the Spring Festival in 2021, the project joint venture company completed the industrial and commercial registration and obtained the business license one and a half months earlier than the original schedule, clearing the obstacles for the pre-construction work.


   As early as the second China International Import Expo in China in 2019, the Danish Lego brand officially announced the construction of Legoland Jinshan. On February 25, 2020, the Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission announced the list of major construction projects in Shanghai in 2020, including 152 formal projects and 60 preliminary projects. Legoland Jinshan was included in the list of preliminary projects.


On November 6, 2020, Shanghai Legoland Resort officially completed the contract. Shanghai Jinshan Urban Investment Group, the international family entertainment tourist attraction giant British Merlin Entertainment Group, Lego parent company Denmark KIRKBI Group investment company KIRKBI INVEST A/S, CMC Inc., a comprehensive domestic media and entertainment industry group, has jointly invested 550 million US dollars in the construction and will build one of the world's largest Legoland resorts.
